Like Picking a Favorite Child

This week's theme for iheartfaces is "best of may".
It took me a while to figure out which picture to use, and then I had a lightbulb moment. My ballet recital was in May...
As you'll recall, I took over three hundred pictures at our recital. And most of them were of the most adorable little girls in the entire world.
The trouble was picking just one. I may or may not have used the eenie-meeny-minie-moe approach. But I wouldn't tell you if I did.

I was on little-girl cuteness overload backstage. My favorite focus in any photo is the eyes, and this little girl's eyes are so big and brown I could slap myself. :) Plus I love the pink skirts in the background.

Outdoors Love

Lately I have been loving the outdoors. And of course, I've been soaking up every ounce of sunshine that I can get.
I went to the pond the other day for a nature photography spree. I do love taking pictures of people, but it always comes back to creation in the end.

^^something simple for kate's challenge^^

I had a mini shoot with T in the backyard the other day... She loves the outdoors too so I stuck her on top of a towel in the grass and snapped a few shots. Of course she looked at me like I was a nut. My little sis knows me well, doesn't she?

While at the pond, I saw this really awesome heron/bird thing that I was trying to get close enough to to snap a picture. I would tip toe a few steps closer and get a few shots, then get closer. I didn't get close enough before he flew away; the below shot it cropped.

It flew away right after this...

So how are you guys liking summer? Today we went swimming at my grandfather's house and I tried to tan. The problem? I laid on my stomach the entire time. So now my back is almost brown (yes!) but my face and front are still completely pale. Whoops.
What's your favorite summer activity?
PS: I would love it if you could weave through {the tips} and give some feedback! I know I practically wrote a novel with it - I tried to think of everything useful that I've learned, and every time that I published the page, I thought of something else. Did you read the whole thing? Here then; have a virtual cupcake.

A Priceless Ocassion

Yesterday I went to my grandparents' house to help out with decorating for my grandfather's suprise seventieth birthday dinner, attended by all of his children and their spouses.
It was a heap of fun to get ready.
The first table: It was lemon themed.

We hung up a banner and other store bought decor.

And I took a few pictures of the chandelier over the second table because I liked it.

^something pretty^

Now tell me, what is a party without balloons? Seriously.

^something blue for Bella's contest^

Bella Skye Photography's 100 Follower Photography contest
My grandmother, who I insist needs to host a cooking show, made fudge cake. Nom. And my parents didn't even bring home the leftovers. For shame.

Don't forget to keep asking questions about blogging!

I Asked...

A little over a week ago {i think}, I posted the poll to the side, asking if I should start a blogging tips/what I'm learning page. Eighteen of you said yes, and five of you said no.
Sorry, those who said nay. The ayes have it!

In a day or two I am going to put up my {the tips} page, compiling things I've learned about blogging in my short time here, from how to get more followers to post-writing to blogging pet peeves.

So - here's where you guys come in. I need your questions. Ask me anything about the whole blogging ordeal, and I'll try my best to answer your questions - if I even know myself.

So go - comment away! There is not a limit to the number of questions you can ask.
{note: I do realize that I am not an extremely experienced blogger. Don't hold it against me.}

More Partying

Jocee  has recently reached one hundred followers! That's such an awesome accomplishment; congrats Jocee!
I heart her blog. Seriously. Anything that involves cupcakes and Will Moseley are an immediate follow for me. :) Go check her out!

Of course she's hosting a fantabulous party to celebrate. And she's compiled some super questions. Here goes!

What would your dream summer vacation be?
A tour of Europe with endless funds. We'd go everywhere and see everything and I've have my family and all of my closest friends with me!

After a rainstorm, what you think of when you see the sun peeking out from the clouds?
Somehow, it just looks so pure. Just - like I know that God caused the storm but now I know that He's calming it.

If you were stranded on a desert island with the sun streaming down on you and had ONE palm tree for shade, you can only have three things with you; what would they be?
A water purifier, A knife, and some rope. Sorry, I'm pretty practical. :)

Vanilla, chocolate, strawberry or neapolitan?

If you saw your celebrity crush walking down the beach with a surfboard, what would you do?
Stare, take a picture, and run away, then turn around and look again. (to be honest, I can't even think of a celebrity crush right now!)

If you went back in time for a day, what era would you go back to, and why?
Probably... the eighteen hundreds, because of the outfits, the houses, and the horses. Aahhhh...

What's your favorite thing about waking up on a summer morning?
Not waking up until I absolutely want to.

Your soundtrack or theme song(s) for the summer:
I can't really think of anything; I still listen to everything on my iPod and that's a pretty random selection.

Say you went to California to visit family. What's the first thing you would buy?
Um... clothes? I don't know - what does one buy in California?

Manicure, pedicure, or facial?
Manicure. Although I desperately need a pedicure. I've never had a facial, so...

What's your favorite color combination?
Coral and grey.

If you were at the beach and you wanted to write a message in the sand, what would you write?
Either my name or a Bible verse.

You're stuck in Paris with $10,000. What do you do?
Hun. You cannot possibly get stuck in Paris. Being stuck implies that you do not want to be there. And I would so want to be there. And with 10,000 dollars? You just described my dream vacation. I would buy every pastry they had to offer, and then load up on cute berets and outfits to truly look French. Oh, and I would get one of those cute little mopeds. Did I go out of budget? :)

What's your most favorite type of summer weather?
Sunny if I'm at the beach, but stormy if I'm at home.

Blowing bubbles while taking a bubble bath?
Um... yes? What kind of question is that anyway?

Cupcakes or dictionaries?
Cupcakes. Yummers. Although dictionaries are pretty awesome.

Like I said, go check out her blog and link up. I promise that you'll love it!

Darkening Skies

Hey, blogging friends. It's me.
Remember me? The bad blogger who hasn't written a post in like, four days?
You remembered! Nice to see you again.
This afternoon we had a showing so we piled in the car to head to my grandmother's house. While we were there, we became aware of a tornado warning that was in affect until ten o'clock tonight.
The funny thing is, it was completely sunny.

Storms are a cause of paranoia around here. We sit by the tv, huddled and watching the news.
I used to be scared of tornado warnings, but now we've had so many that I'm getting used to them.

That being said, they are still not my favorite thing in the world.

So overall, today was a pretty laid back day. After the showing, we headed home and watched anxiously as the skies began to cloud over what had been a once-sunny day.

It's been raining so much lately that we have a healthy crop of mushrooms in the backyard. Fungi is suprisingly photogenic.

We went outside and played with bubbles for a little while.

Who could ask for more perfect weather to watch the Oprah finale? {kidding}

As I'm typing this, it has just started raining. The skies are dark. Church has been canceled. The aura is of impending fright.
For those of you who prefer predictable weather, I have a tip:
Don't move here. Or if you've already moved here and hate the current weather, stick around for about fifteen minutes. It will change.

For the Record...

for the record: I'm still here. Oh look, the world didn't end.

for the record: You do not know how awesome it is to be able to say "I'm going to just take a nap this afternoon" and not have any school or anything to worry about.

for the record: I got my passport a couple of weeks ago. {eeeeep international travel} Why, you ask? I'm going on a mission trip in June, but I'm going to keep the destination a secret for a little bit longer and tell you when it comes closer time.

for the record: The weather where I live has been perfect for the beach. Only we aren't at the beach. So it's just hot.

for the record: My piano recital was yesterday - I heart music.

for the record: I want to go swimming.

for the record: I just found out the other day that I have to do summer reading for the highschool that I'm going to next year. Yipee. I don't enjoy forced reading.

for the record: I think I'll take a nap today.

for the record: I am dying for summer nail polish.

for the record: I need a go-to summer hairstyle...

for the record: Can you tell I'm thinking majorly about how to spend my summer?

for the record: I follow entirely too many blogs. Want to know how many? One hundred and fifty six. Oh no - I'm addicted. The plus side? I always have new posts on my updater thing to read. That's what I like.

Style Love: Georgie Henley

Last night I went to a good friend's Hollywood themed party, and we had to arrive dressed as our favorite celebrity.
I had no idea who to come as.
Finally, I began thinking of British actresses, and Georgie came to mind.
This girl has an unfair amount of gorgeousness. And her style? Love, love, love.

This outfit was for the Nickelodeon something-or-another awards and therefore was a tad more casual. But she dressed it up with that jacket.

Lately, as she's gotten older, she's leaned more toward sophisticated looks. See the shoes? They say let's dance across the toes. I. Want.

This was a photoshoot and was therefore a bit stranger looking, but she can pull it off.

This is the outfit I tried to replicate for the party. If the paparrazi (my friend's sister volunteered) ever emails me the red carpet photos, I'll be sure to post them.

Another photoshoot picture. I love that jacket.

I believe she wore this for one of the Prince Caspian premieres. She also wears ballet flats a lot, which I love. I've also noticed that she carries a clutch a lot of the time.

I. Want. That. Hat.

I'm pretty sure this is the most recent picture of her. I love how she's branching out with stranger looking dresses that still look terrific on her and are modest. And oh look, she's carrying an adorable clutch, as always.

I don't really know what I like about this dress, but it suits her well. Hair envy anyone?

I've always loved this dress; she wore it to the first ever Prince Caspian premiere in England. And those ballet flats look like the same style as the others.

The party was a great deal of fun (although it did take a while for them to guess who I was). A bonus: I had an excuse to speak in a British accent. Love.

Which celebrity's style do you love?

PS: I might not see you guys tomorrow. Why? Apparently the world is going to end.
My opinion? Sorry, scientists. The Bible says that no one knows the hour or day. So I'll still be here and I'm not worrying about what to do with the last few hours of my life.
